POP ICONS

Over the last three decades, Burton Morris has painted objects and icons, challenging the way we view everyday ideas in our modern day culture. Each iconic painting is representational of a distinct, greater idea communicating a message in its most simplistic form. His fascination with symbols and icons started when he was a child, emulating the comic book heroes he would draw back in the 1960’s when Pop Art was just beginning.

PORTRAITS

In his ongoing series titled “Nightstand Portraits”, Morris has created a series of artworks which are based upon an individual’s bedside nightstand. Each painting is composed of personal objects and ideas that represent the subject. “Nightstands are intimate reflections of who you are” says Morris.

Following in the footsteps of Pop Artist Andy Warhol, Morris targets iconic celebrities, industrialists, fashion designers, actors, athletes, politicians, etc. The nightstand portrait captures the essence of the individual and allows the viewer to get an inside look at the person in a unique way.

INTERIORS

The Artist has explored a series of Interior paintings in homage to one of the great pop art masters, Roy Lichtenstein. Morris has painted various home and museum Interiors which showcase his own art within an artistic setting. Always intrigued by architectural design and space, he tries to create atmospheres that reflect his energetic style and iconography.
