Over the last two decades, Burton Morris has painted objects and icons, challenging the way we view everyday ideas in our modern day culture. Through his stylistic paintings, he represents the common object singularly, reducing it to an iconic graphic form. Each icon created, is representational of a distinct, greater idea.
His fascination with icons as a pictorial language is based upon his design and advertising background, communicating a message in its most simplistic form. “I try to create an instant happening for the viewer with each composition,”says Morris.
