Renowned pop artist Burton Morris will appear with Marvel Comics’ Stan Lee at the launch of Morris’ book “Burton Morris Pop!” on October 27 from noon to 2 p.m. at Hamilton-Selway Fine Art, 8678 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles. A gallery exhibit, “A New Perspective On Pop,” will follow at 5 p.m.
The signing and events are open to the public.
Morris’ artwork has graced the 76th Academy Awards, heralded the 2006 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and frequented the set of the hit NBC sitcom “Friends.” Now internationally-celebrated pop artist Burton Morris’ vibrant style can embolden your coffee table with the release of his first book, “Burton Morris Pop!”
The 96-page hardcover book features Morris’ brilliantly-colored paintings along with quotes about his art from pop culture icons. Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee, one of Morris’ early influences, wrote the introduction and will also make an appearance at the Los Angeles book launch.
“Burton has created his own shining world of painting like no other, a pop culture world of color and composition and cheer that brings unimaginable joy to countless viewers around the globe,” Lee said.
Morris first gained national attention in the mid-1990’s when his artwork was selected to be part of the Absolut Vodka advertising campaign, following in the footsteps of pop artist and fellow Pittsburgh native Andy Warhol. Over the years, Morris’ artwork has been selected for the Paris World Cup Soccer Games, the 38th Montreux Jazz Festival and the 2004 Summer Olympic Games. Morris’ original paintings are displayed internationally and are part of many public and private collections.
The book launch continues next month when Morris and his art will join Chef Emeril Lagasse in New Orleans at “Carnivale Du Vin” to raise charity funds for children.
